As the holiday’s quickly approach, I think to myself how fortunate I am to have a job, a roof over my head and food to eat. I’m thankful for my loving family and friends who would be by my side through thick and thin. But I am not satisfied with that answer. I reach deep down inside and think back to events from this past year. And I realize that I am thankful for… MY LEGS!
They have taken me through FIRST TIME MAJOR events this past year in full stride. Not only did they set the starting line in Ecuador for the New Year (my first trip out of the country), but they drug me through a half marathon (my first), they jumped out of an air plane with me attached (first and last time!) and they allowed me to saunter through Scandinavia. With this year ending in lightening speed, I think of what my legs will let me do next year: my first marathon, weekend trips to see those friends I am so thankful for, maybe a trip to Thailand…who knows. I do know though, that whatever adventure my legs take me on, they will always lead me back to those things I am so thankful for.
T is for Thankfulness!

I am thankful for… my kids.
That’s the obvious answer for many, but it is also the truth. Kennan, my first born, 5 years old and so sensitive and curious and clever. Not a day goes by that he doesn’t tell me he loves me.
“Mama?” Out of the blue.
“Yes?”
“I love you.”
Emerson, my number two. She is 3, going on 13… somedays. It’s been a little tough for her this year, sharing the spotlight with her new baby sister and wanting me all to herself, but her smile lights up a room and she gives good hug.
And I am thankful for Lila, who arrived June 2nd, and though she is number three, I still stare into her eyes and enjoy her. Her smile, the way she laughs at her big brother’s antics, the way she is so engaged with the world around her.
We are blessed; we are a family- Jonathan, me, and our three amazing children.
Happy Thanksgiving.
I am grateful that my husband, who’s a cop, gets to come home to me safe every night (well… 3 am that is). I am grateful that he’s good at what he does.
I’m also grateful that I have a job, especially in today’s economy.
I am thankful that I have been blessed with an awesome, hard-working husband and great kids.
I am thankful for my health! I spent the last year working to lose 50 lbs. Now, I’m no longer dependent on my inhaler, and my back pain is gone. What I’ve gained since losing the weight has been incredible: confidence, a healthy diet and lifestyle, and a life free from pain and difficulty breathing. I’m thankful for the people who’ve helped cheer me on along the way. This is the first major thing I’ve done for myself, and I’m thankful for taking a moment to realize I needed to improve my life!
I’m thankful for my friends and family who encourage me everyday to do my best.
