Baby’s First Year”
No matter what category of mom you fall into – whether it be a
stay-at-home mom, office mom, social media mom, PTA mom – it’s often
impossible to work out, take time for yourself or recharge the
batteries. As a full-time working mom, my hours are quite demanding. As
a producer, we work both while in the office and oftentimes while we’re
at home. There is no downtime.
That’s why I live and breathe for the weekends. No matter how busy the
week was or how big the household to-do list is, this is my chance to
play catch-up. As a result, I’m happy to be using this “Motherhood of
the Traveling Shirt” campaign to show exactly what I do to get the job
done.
I let it all go. I leave the to-do’s and dust bunnies…the need to
return phone calls and the grocery shopping till later. I tune out the
need to be precise and accurate (a trait I value in my professional
role). Instead, I focus on family. We do everything together, from
playing games and reading books on the couch to eating our way through
the lower east side, walking over the Brooklyn Bridge or enjoying a game
at the new CitiField… It’s these things that recharge my battery…
fill the tank… get the blood flowing again. I don’t wear a watch or
look at my calendar and I love it.
One day my little 5 and 7-year-olds won’t want to sing songs for my
husband and me or make up dances in the living room. I’ve got to just
smile and give them as much of me as I can white soaking it all in. This
is what playing catch-up is all about.
