What makes me tri? Crossing the finish line with a smile on my face!

Rachel Newbauer July 27, 2010 at 3:16 pm

What makes me tri? Its the rush of the finish and knowing that I did my best. When my husband deployed I needed something to focus on and this was the perfect fit! Not only am I in the best shape of my life, but I am a better mother and wife. What really makes me “tri” is the fact that my oldest little girl (3) will be so excited and tell me “MOMMY YOU WON!” even if I come in last – that in itself is worth every ounce of pain!

What makes me “Tri”?

Knowing that I have the ability to empower myself and not only make a difference in my own life, my kids’ lives, but to inspire those around me as well.

Congrats on being the official sponsor! You ladies ROCK!

My son makes me tri. I know he sees me taking care of my health and he’s learning healthy habits too! Plus, I love it when he runs with me (in the stroller) and yells ‘FASTER, Mommy, FASTER!’

What makes me tri? Doing something for myself. Giving myself a challenge. Having me daughter cheer me on. Teaching her the importance of taking care of yourself!

Beki July 27, 2010 at 5:11 pm

What makes me tri? Well, to get a goal of something I once thought I could never do. To get rid of the “can’t”s in my life and replace them with, “Look what I just did!”

What makes me wanna tri again? I let the water beat me in my first sprint tri. I finished the swim, but still felt defeated. I am going to practice open water swimming and next year – I’m going to tri again!

As a breast cancer survivor there are many reasons I tri…To be a small part of a great cause, writing on yourself with sharpie attracts lots of attention, I gotta have more cowbell baby, to feel the wind in my hair, sheer experience, real superheros wear pink, the support of those who race with you, beats chemo, to learn the art of possible, and to say outloud I survived.

In 2008 I made a video listing these reasons. A few days before the Tri For the Cure in 2008 I lost my Mother to cancer. I am celebrating 4 years of being cancer free at age 37. My 2 daughers will have to start getting mamograms at age 23 – my hope is by then there is a cure. This is why I Tri.

You can see the 2008 video here: http://www.facebook.com/#!/video/video.php?v=1426992589695

So excited you all are the offical apparel sponsor…see you there!

Wow, what an inspiring video! Thank you so much for taking the time to share it. We are so glad that you are cancer free. So very inspiring.

What makes me “Tri”?
I think it’s a combination of things. First, it’s the new found empowerment that I am feeling from making the decision to get back in shape and lose weight. I’ve “tri”ed this many times before, but this is the first time that I feel like I am succeeding and enjoying the process. I have the Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans to thank for that. Second, it is the fact that I have a goal that I am aiming toward. Last but certainly not least, it is proving to myself that I can do this and I am worth the effort.

Kirsten July 27, 2010 at 5:44 pm

I tri every day. Tri to be a better woman, mother, wife. Running helps remind me that I’m worth the effort. I want my 3 girls to see me doing things that I never thought possible. See me work hard for a goal. See me accomplish my goals.

Renee July 27, 2010 at 10:17 pm

Setting goals makes me tri! I’m preparing for a half- marathon and raising $4000 for the leukemia and lymphoma society. Two things vie never done before but I gotta try!

Brooke July 29, 2010 at 11:15 am

i Tri to change up my running routine. :)

Thea @ I'm a Drama Mama July 31, 2010 at 11:04 pm

I tri by competing in triathlons! I completed my first tri on July 25th and I’m already training to my second. I love how strong I feel and that I’m never bored with my workouts!

Wendy August 1, 2010 at 2:22 pm

Being a positive role model for my kids while doing something for myself. Tri definitely makes me a better person.

Terri August 1, 2010 at 4:08 pm

What makes me Tri? I am a mother of 4 year-old twins and I just turned 45. I wanted to do this for my kids. I want to be healthy for them, so I can be around long enough to see them grow up. Until I started training for this event, I had not exercised regularly since my 20s. I’m happy with the results and even happier that my kids know what the word “exercise” means now.
