It is not just Annika Sorenstam’s 72 career LPGA victories and 10 major titles that really inspire us at BornFit. This Fit new mom is doing it all; balancing marriage and a brand new baby girl, managing various business ventures and Giving Back through the ANNIKA Foundation! BornFit recently had the pleasure of giving this #1 golfer some BornFit Maternity pieces for a Pregnancy Magazine photo shoot.  We also had the amazing opportunity to interview her about how she does it all!

What excites you most about becoming a mom?

The thought of a new life created by the love between my husband, Mike and me is what excites me most. The ability to provide life, love, nurturing, and then new opportunities to a new human being. The challenges and the new chapter in our lives is something that we welcome. It will be fun to share and raise a child and to help her live her dreams.

Please share your philosophy of “balance” in your world once baby arrives? Your business ventures have been so important to you, and we know that you are striving for a good flow between being a ‘family’ and the passion of taking your businesses/organizations to a new level. Balance is the key to my life.  I will continue to work daily on all my businesses. I love what I do and the opportunities that lie ahead. With the arrival of our little girl, I have to be more precise in my scheduling and time management. It will be important to find time for Mike and me to balance family as well as run a successful business. Luckily, we work well together and he shares my passion for our work, and life in general.

Giving Back is so important to us at BornFit, and it is clear that Giving Back is very important to you. What was the inspiration behind the ANNIKA Foundation?

I live a great life and have been fortunate to follow my dreams. I am at a stage now where I like to give back and share my experiences. I like to inspire young people so they can reach their full potential.

BornFit believes that “fitness is the foundation for moms.” With your foundation, a huge goal for children is the importance of fitness. How do you believe that the importance of fitness for children, moms and families interconnect?

Fitness is one of the fundamentals to living a healthy life as well as being active and eating right. It’s very important to educate and create these habits early, so that it becomes part of the daily routines. It all starts within the family/parents.

Do you envision the sport of golf become more of a family passion in the future, and will you still strive for that individual passion as well?

I am sure golf will continue to be part of the family as it has for both Mike and me for many years. We will introduce our little girl to the game and see what happens. Sports in general are a daily activity in our household, so I have a strong feeling that this will pass on to the next generation as well.

Has pregnancy affected your game? Do you still play?

It certainly has. I haven’t played in over two months. It just doesn’t feel the same and I have to alter my swing to be able to hit the ball decently. Being a professional athlete and a perfectionist, I rather take a break and pick up the game after the birth of our daughter.

Which BornFit garments can you just not get enough of?

The Maternity Rudy tank with design, Maternity Evans Capri and Maternity Cameron pullover.

Did Annika choose to exercise throughout the majority of her pregnancy?

Yes! Annika did choose to exercise throughout her pregnancy! She says that staying active is one of the fundamentals to healthy living. We couldn’t agree more and know that’s why both Annika and baby Ava are BornFit!
